Laqueta and I have planned a small, late Fall event for Friday, October 23rd, to Sunday, October 25th. The event will take place on the Delta Queen. This will include all 1978 and earlier Chrysler products, Packard Motor Company products, all orphan cars, and all pre-WWII antique cars of any make. We have a block of rooms set aside for attendees to spend Friday and Saturday nights aboard the Delta Queen. Your room comes with a full breakfast for both Friday and Saturday. It is important to realize that the Delta Queen may only be here temporarily and if returned to normal service, the cost of a night on board is extremely high. This may be the only chance we get to do something like this. Here is the link to their website where you can see the rooms and the boat: http://www.deltaqueenhotel.com/ Parking - The south end of River Street (see maps below) will be closed via the City of Chattanooga, and all parking spaces will be reserved for our exclusive use during the entire weekend. There is no charge at all for parking, and the cars will be very close to the Delta Queen. This will provide us with a nice display area and easy access to and from the Delta Queen. Coolidge Park - The Delta Queen is docked directly adjacent to Coolidge Park. This is where we will be parking all weekend. The park is nice and a recent addition to the downtown Chattanooga riverfront. Click the following links for information about Coolidge Park and the 100-year-old Coolidge Park Carousel. North Shore - There are additional activities and eateries along the North Shore: http://www.northshorechattanooga.com/ Reservations - It is your responsibility to make whatever reservations you require. There are a number of different rooms to choose from (in all different price ranges). Be sure to tell them you are with the Antique Car Meet to get a 10 percent discounted room rate. Please call them as soon as you can and make your reservation (423) 468-4500 and drop me an email at: soule100@comcast.net Please do this now as we have a limited number of rooms reserved for our use. To ensure that you can obtain the accommodations you desire, you should act now! There is plenty to see in Coolidge Park located adjacent to the boat, and there are many good choices for lunch and dinner as well. An interesting history of the Delta Queen. Friday Evening - Dinner at a long-time local favorite, Nicki's Drive-In Restaurant. This place will sure take you back in time. Looks like it was frozen in time about 1955 and never changed. Only the prices have changed, but still very reasonable, and great food! After dinner, cocktails in the Texas Lounge aboard the Delta Queen. Saturday at 11:00 a.m. we will depart for a short tour to Cloudland Canyon State Park, which is located just south of Chattanooga in North Georgia. It should be an incredible sight at this colorful time of year. You can either pack a picnic lunch or pick something up in Trenton, Georgia, where we will stop at the Subway Sandwich Shop before entering the park. http://www.gastateparks.org/info/cloudland/ Saturday Evening - Dinner on the North Shore at one of the many restaurants available for our group.
